Lions Choice Sports King of Beef Awards

by mikwil4@sbcglobal.net on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 5:00 AM

Playing Offensive Line is a responsibility like no other.  While QBs, RBs, and WRs, get the majority of recognition, Offensive Lineman many times go unoticed.  The Offensive linemen pave the way for running backs and protect quarterbacks — and take much pride in dominating opponents.

In an effort to notice those who pave the way, CFA developed the Lion's Choice King of Beef Award.  For the 2014 Season, each week we recognized the following Offensive Lines who went above and beyond:

Team Seabuagh, Team Swaykus, Team Nelson (f.k.a Carroll), Team Charlton (f.k.a. Taylor), Team Sargent, Team O'Keefe (f.k.a. Beaver), Team Perkins, and Team Long, Team Larry Williams.

Great Job to this great group of Offensive Lineman

The 10 Commandments of Parenting Football Players

by mikwil4@sbcglobal.net on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 9:32 AM

We all want the best for our children, and being parents of youth football players often put us in tough situations. We struggle to find the balance of wanting to be our child's biggest fan, coach, bodyguard and parent.

So, what is the right balance?

I present to you my "10 Commandments of Parenting Football Players" - yours might be different (and be sure to share them with me in the comments), but these are the parenting rules that I try to abide by.

La'Roi Glover Picked Himself Off Ground, Landed in Saints Hall of Fame

(article from http://www.sportsnola.com/ )

"Failure is not an option" was made famous during the Apollo 13 mission. The newest member of the Saints Hall of Fame set out to disprove that mantra Friday during his acceptance speech at the Airport Hilton.

"Contrary to what people will tell you, failure is an option," former Saints defensive tackle La'Roi Glover said. "Failure from the standpoint of winning and losing is an option.

"What is not an option is picking yourself off the ground, getting off the ground."

End of Season Wrap - GREAT JOB, 2013 SuperBowl Champions, and THANK YOU coaches, players, and families !!

by mikwil4@sbcglobal.net on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 12:00 AM

Coaches, GREAT JOB on a very successful 2013 Season!

Since our organization's inception, the Chesterfield Football Association's focus has been on skill development, teaching of life lessons, building teamwork and preparing young men to play this great game of football. CFA measures how well we excite our focus through our annual survey and not by wins and losses. For CFA, winning is a result and not the end all be all.

All 25 Heads Coaches had a phenomenal season leading their young men!! We also recognize that 21 of our 25 teams participated in the GFL post season. 13 of the 25 finished in the top 6 of their age levels. Three teams finished first. CFA finished 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at 5th Grade!

Congratulations to CFA TEAM 6-6 (6th Grade Gold), CFA Team 8-1 (8th Grade), and CFA Team 5-1 (5th grade) for winning the Super Bowl. For CFA Team 8-1, it was their 2nd consecutive Super Bowl victory. For CFA Team 5-1, it was their 3rd straight Super Bowl victory. The first ever 3-peat in CFA history.  Congratulations Coach Bertolucci, Black, and Paul !!

All three teams focus was not on winning but on skill development, teaching of life lessons, building teamwork and preparing young men to play this great game of football. Winning was a result of their players and families hard work and dedication.

Congratulations to all and THANK YOU for a great 2013 season!!!
