 WHY SPORTS PERFORMANCE? Minimize

In today’s sports arena we are seeing more athletes participating in sports than ever. Many athletes both prepubescent (8-11) and pubescent (12-15) are involved in organized sports before entering competitive, interscholastic sports at the high school level. Because of the number of athletes participating in youth sports, especially youth football, parents and coaches are concerned about the number of injuries

Younger, lighter players are more prone to short term injuries in their upper extremities such as forearm/wrist contusions and shoulder sprains. Whereas older, heavier players are more prone to lower extremity injuries such as knee/ankle sprains and quadriceps contusions.

Can sports performance have a positive impact on the youth football athlete?  Research suggests that a well-designed program can safely be undertaken by prepubescent as well as pubescent athletes.  Sports performance programs can increase strength, flexibility, aerobic endurance, and balance.  Studies have also shown that kids who are physically active or participate in sports are more likely to have a higher self-esteem = confidence, performs better in the classroom, and have better social skills.

There are numerous ways to train an athlete.  At Velocity Sports Performance we believe the proper way is by prescribing exercises that improve mobility, coordination, speed, agility, strength, and power.  In addition to the sound methodology of our programs, our certified sports performance staff will take your athlete to the next level by teaching them what it takes to not only be a great athlete but a great individual: desire, belief, character, determination, heart and pride.
